Edinburgh Blues Scooter Club

A bit about The Blues

Blues SC is an International Scooter Club with several branches throughout the world. The Club was formed here in Edinburgh in 1979 and is still going strong. In recent years we have developed into a club with over 250 members around the world. The Club has the reputation for being a very friendly Rally going Scooter Club with a good sense of humour and a terrible thirst for alcohol!! There is usually at least one Blues member at every National Rally and major Do in Great Britain, so let yourself be known to other Blues Members, they can usually be found near the bar........

The early years of The Edinburgh Blues can be read about here.

After a couple of incidents over the past year, it has been felt necessary by the Committee and voted on by the Members to introduce a few new Club Rules regarding Membership. These Rules are to ensure that the name of The Blues is not brought into disrepute, not to kerb your enjoyment!!

Members Rules and Information

1. To Become and Stay a Blues Member
To become a full member of the Edinburgh Blues, there are a few things which need to be completed. When you come along to your first meeting, you will be asked to fill in a Membership Form and you must attend the next SIX weeks meetings as part of your prospecting period. During the next year you MUST attend at least TWO Rallies on your scooter with the Club - this is so that we can see what you are like when you get let out and near the alcohol and to make sure that you do not cause trouble when this happens.

After this period you will be voted in as a Member, you will get your Official Edinburgh Blues Member Patch and you will be given the oportunity to purchase your Blues T-Shirt, Polo Shirt and/or Hooded Top - you will not be able to do this until you have completed your prospecting period and your two Rallies.

To remain a Member of the Edinburgh Blues, you must renew your membership every year and complete at least 2 Rallies on your scooter thoughout the year.

2. Membership Fees
Membership Fees are £20 per year and are payable when you join and thoughout the month of January for renewing Members.

3. Meetings
Meetings are held every Wednesday (7.30pm onwards - meeting starting at 8.00pm SHARP) at THE HOLYROOD TAVERN, HOLYROOD ROAD, EDINBURGH. Details of forthcoming events, etc and any other information for the members will be passed on then. If you arrive late at a meeting please see one of the Committee Members for any info you missed and please note that it will Members responsibility to find out what happened at meetings that they missed.

4. Accommodation
On the Rallies which require Hotel/B&B bookings and you indicate that you would like accommodation, a non-refundable (as this is usually paid to the Hotel/B&B on booking) £10 deposit must be paid. The full balance for the accommodation must be paid a least 2 weeks before the date of the Rally. If you cancel your accommodation before the 2 week cut off date, then there is usually no other money to be paid, but if you cancel your accommodation within that 2 weeks, you will be liable for the full amount for the room because the Club will be liable to pay the full amount to the Hotel/B&B.

This may not be the case with some of the Hotels/B&Bs which may be used, but this will be made known to you at the time.

If you can find someone else to take your accommodation and they pay in full before we leave, then your money will be re-imbursed (minus the £10 deposit usually).

5. Savings Club
To help with the costs of the Rallies and Do's, the Club has a Savings Scheme which is run by Lynn Loutitt - if you require further info on this let her know at any of the meetings. This is a good idea as even £5 per week will help towards the costs.

6. Non-Members
If a Member wishes to bring a Non-Member along to any Rally, etc remember that you have full responsiblity for this person/these people. There has been some trouble recently with Non-Members of the Club causing/being involved in trouble and we do not want any more of this sort of behaviour assocaited with the Club. Please mention to a Committee Member if you are planning to bring along a non-Member to any Rally - Remember that you will be held responsible for anyone you bring along to any Rallies.
